Katy ISD secondary students have the option to check out books from their English teacher’s classroom library, though as of November 7, parental consent is required prior to a student being able to do so. If parents do not provide consent via the Parent Option Portal, their secondary student will be unable to check out an ELA classroom library book. The Katy Advanced Program provides students with an opportunity to engage in above-grade level coursework in the areas of math, science, language arts, and social studies.

KAP courses are available beginning in 6th grade and are open to all students. Every student is encouraged to take at least one advanced level course in an area of interest. ​You may be contacted for additional documents needed to complete your student’s registration. Two Tivy High School Orchestra students earned the distinction of securing a spot in the Texas Music Educators Association’s All-Region Orchestra this past weekend. Our batches consistently took at least 35 minutes to make (in past years, we’ve made ice cream in the ICM-201SB in about 32 minutes, but that’s still longer than our other picks have taken). That overrun percentage aligned with the comparatively fluffier texture of the ice cream.

The second batch, which churned for 35 minutes, was heftier but still not as dense as ice cream from our other picks. The Oreo-flavor batch from the Whynter was one of our favorites, though, as the airy texture contrasted nicely with the chunky cookie bits. This machine makes the absolute smoothest homemade ice cream we’ve tasted in years of testing.
